Isaac Daye is currently here in Fayetteville for a couple of weeks. This is such an exciting time to be reunited with him! His zeal for the Lord is second to no other person that I have ever met. We have spent some time together talking about the work that is taking place in West Africa. We have talked about the importance of helping various congregations with their building projects for 2 reasons:
1. Many congregations do not have a good place to worship. This becomes a tremendous problem during the rainy season as they are unable to stay dry without a roof
2. By assisting these congregations in need, our West African brethren are able to see and believe our commitment and love for them in their work. Isaac has informed me that there have been other mission teams in the past that have travelled to Liberia and witnessed firsthand the tremendous need for places of worship. Unfortunately, certain teams have returned home only to "forget" what they had witnessed. By assisting these congregations with funding for their buildings, we will in turn have more credibility as their brethren and will in essence be "proving" our love for them. This will open more doors for us as we return to their country.
Although I feel like we are doing all we can to assist these Christians, Isaac DID ease some of my discomfort by telling me that at least we are doing SOMETHING. He also encouraged me to try to continue helping them (however little it might be at times) until their structures are completed. So this will be part of my goal,to keep trying to help them have decent places to worship.....
