This past Sunday night I had the privilege of speaking for the Center St. congregation on our upcoming July trip to Stafford, Kansas. After giving a brief devotional on the need for missionaries, I then presented a slide show that included photographs my wife and I took when we visited Stafford in March. I told the congregation the format we would be following and gave them some of the specific areas we need help with in order to make this effort as productive as possible. We wanted to accomplish a couple of things by conducting my presentation. They were to:
1. inform the congregation about what we would be doing and giving them a snapshot view of Stafford and the Church there
2. recruit volunteers to go to Stafford with us
The trip is July 19-22 ( Saturday-Tuesday)
The deadline to commit to going with us is May 31.
We already have 2 of our elders and their wives committed to going. They are:
Allan and Patsy Cochran
Rick and Gail McWhorter
Other commitments are from:
Mande Wray, Darren Vaughn family, and Laird family
Total count to date= 16
We really are hoping to take a good group of teens along with our summer youth intern and his wife. Realistically, we could be taking 35-40 people to Stafford when all is said and done. If we can do this, that will be the largest group we have ever taken on a stateside mission trip!
Anyone from the Center St. congregation who is interested in going with us should call me ( Craig Laird)
